Airbus 3D World | The next level of Digital Terrain Models
Reveal the real nature of our planet’s landscape with accurate and reliable terrain models
What is Airbus 3D World DTM?
Digital Terrain Models (DTM) are 3D depictions of the Earth’s terrain, focused on bare-earth only. This means we remove all above-ground features, such as vegetation and buildings. Just like DSM, DTM contain altimetric information, providing information on elevation, slopes, and any variation of terrain. DTM are essential for applications which rely on true ground elevation data. At Airbus, we compute our own DTM based on multi-stereo imagery collected from our satellite constellation, focused on delivering reliable terrain awareness without the need for on-the-ground data collection.
Airbus 3D World DTM are available in a range of resolutions to match each project’s specific needs:
- DTM 5 (formerly WorldDEM Neo DTM): a global, off-the-shelf DTM at 5m resolution, for medium and large-scale projects, available in DTM 5 level 2 with addional editing.
- DTM 1 (formerly Elevation 1 DTM): on-demand, archive or tasked DTM at 1m resolution, the perfect solution for precise engineering and environmental simulation projects and more.
- DTM 0.5 (formerly Elevation 0.5 DTM): on-demand, archive or tasked DTM at 0.5m resolution. Based on multi-stereo Pléiades Neo data, DTM 0.5 offers a key advantage for those who need the highest precision.

Key features
- Accuracy: down to 1.5 m absolute vertical accuracy* with Ground Control Points (GCP)**
- Resolution: 3 levels of resolutions from 5 m to 50 cm, to match your needs
- Accessibility: easy access and ordering via our OneAtlas portal
- Availability: off-the-shelf and on-demand: produced from recent archives, or with fresh tasking upon request**
- Compatibility: interoperability with GIS tools
In many projects, DTM and DSM work together, each providing key information on both the nature of the terrain and the structures and vegetation that exist on top of it.
*valid for slopes ≤20%
** for DTM 1 and DTM 0.5

Who Airbus 3D World DTM can support?
Airbus 3D World DTM supports decision-making in a variety of sectors
- Engineering and infrastructure: replicate the world in 3D to visualise building height, terrain variations, urban density and skyline.
- OGME: optimise placement, compare surface changes over time and plan future work with the right information.
- Environmental management and disaster response: estimate exposure to flooding or other natural or man-made disasters, taking into account vegetation and built structures. Compare changes in vegetation and landscape over time.
- Defence and security: enhance your situational awareness and ensure you have all information for mission planning such as viewshed and slope analysis.
