Airbus 3D World DSM | The next level of digital surface models

Precise, intuitive and reliable altimetric surface models for informed decision-making

What is Airbus 3D World DSM?

Digital Surface Models (DSM) are 3D depictions of the Earth’s surface that capture terrain and above-ground features, such as buildings and vegetation. DSM contains altimetric information, providing key information on the altitude and slopes of any natural or man-made feature. Leveraging Airbus’ satellite constellation, we deliver high-quality DSM coverage at various resolutions to enable fast, scalable insights and reliable surface awareness without the need for on-the-ground data collection. Airbus 3D World DSM offers our customers a choice of products to match their specific needs:

  • DSM 5 (formerly WorldDEM Neo DSM): a global, off-the-shelf DSM at 5m resolution, for medium and large-scale projects, such as environmental risk assessment, insurance, or engineering.
  • DSM 1 (formerly Elevation 1 DSM): on-demand, archive or tasked DSM at 1m resolution, the perfect solution for cartography, urban planning and more.
  • DSM 0.5 (formerly Elevation 0.5 DSM): on-demand, archive or tasked DSM at 0.5m resolution. Based on multi-stereo Pléiades Neo data, DSM 0.5’s high precision offers a key advantage for  defence ISR and construction needs.

Who Airbus 3D World DSM can support?

Airbus 3D World DSM supports decision-making in a variety of sectors

  • Engineering and infrastructure: replicate the world in 3D to visualise building height, terrain variations, urban density and skyline.
  • Telecommunication and location-based services: Identify line-of-sight and signal obstruction, ensure correct object and slope data for autonomous driving.
  • OGME: Optimise placement, compare surface change over time and plan future work with the right information
  • Environmental management and disaster response: estimate exposure to flooding or other natural or man-made disasters, taking into account vegetation and built structures. Compare changes in vegetation and landscape over time.
  • Defence and security: enhance your situational awareness and ensure you have all information for mission planning such as viewshed and slope analysis.
